Shamir added as show support

The band announce XL Recording artist Shamir is added to 8 shows as support along with Chic featuring Nile Rodgers. Shamir puts out a cover of Duran Duran’s “Hungry like the Wolf” to commemorate the upcoming dates.

Headlining 3 European festivals

Duran Duran is announced as headliners for three summer festivals in Europe: on May 28 at Oxford’s South Park for Common People Oxford, May 29th at the Southampton Common for Common People Southampton and June 19th for Northside in Aarhus, Denmark.

    April 10, 2016

    “The Music Of David Lynch,” filmed last year to benefit The David Lynch Foundation, airs on AXS TV on April 10 and features Duran Duran’s performance of “The Chauffeur.” The double vinyl, which also features Sky Ferreira, Moby, Karen O and others is released April 15.

    On April 12, Duran Duran perform at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, to a rapturous crowd, for the first time. They are joined on stage by special guests Nile Rodgers (“Notorious” and “Pressure Off”), Kiesza (“Last Night in the City”) and Lindsay Lohan (“Dancephobia”).

  • North Carolina transgender awareness performance

    April 16, 2016

    Rather than cancel a scheduled show in Charlotte, North Carolina, Duran Duran decided to use their April 16th performance at the PNC Music Pavilion to raise awareness. Said the band of HB2 (which requires transgender people only use bathrooms that correspond with their sex at birth) “ (it is) plain, old fashioned prejudice, fear and oppression” and pledged support to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community. To help with the cause, Duran Duran encouraged fans to register to vote and sign a petition that will be presented at a General Assembly meeting in North Carolina on April 25. A representative from North Carolina Now! came up on stage so the band could be the first people to sign the petition that night. They then dedicated the evening’s performance of “Save a Prayer” to the LGBT community.

    Duran Duran wrap up the Spring leg of their North American tour with a Sold-Out show at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles on May 2nd. The small venue setting served as a “thank you” to fans and featured guest performances from Mr Hudson and Kiesza.

    Duran Duran perform for BBC Music Day on June 3rd at Eden Project in Cornwall. The band play IN the biosphere, something they’ve certainly never done before! Singer Laura Mvula joins them for “Notorious.” The concert is broadcast live on the radio on BBC2 with televised highlights airing Sunday, June 5 on BBC1.

    On July 1, 98.1 in Eau Claire, WI signs on to a new signal and the first song they played to intro the station is Duran Duran’s “The Reflex.”

    On the eve of the North American tour, Warner Brothers launch #LastNightInTheCityDD for Instagram, asking fans to tag their posts with this hashtag and then visit their dedicated website so they can see what other people did “last night”!

  • Nick leaves Paper Gods tour

    On July 7, the band post the following statement on their website: “Regrettably, keyboardist Nick Rhodes will be leaving the current Duran Duran tour tomorrow for a short period of time,to return to the UK to attend to an urgent family matter. The band have just embarked on the third US leg of their Paper Gods tour, which kicked off last night in Nashville. They are currently in Chicago, where they play two nights at the Ravinia Pavilion (Friday July 8 and Saturday July 9). Nick will be temporarily replaced by long-time friend and collaborator, artist MNDR.”

  • Apollo Theater performance

    On July 19, Duran Duran perform at the Apollo Theater, in Harlem, NY. It is the band’s first performance in the historic venue. Canadian singer Kiesza join them for “Last Night in the City.”

    On August 10 the band celebrate Duran Duran Appreciation Day by posting a video greeting, an excerpt of an interview with Nick taken from the latest Katy’s Kafe recorded just for DDAD and a free video download of the band performing “Planet Earth” from June’s BBC Music Day in Cornwall. Tweets of “congratulation” came in from Entertainment Weekly, Entertainment Tonight, The Ellen Show, Electronic Musician, Yahoo Music and more.

    On September 27th, the nominees for the MTV EMA Awards are announced, with Duran Duran up for Best World Stage. The 2016 show is in Rotterdam, Netherlands on November 6th. Duran Duran performed at the 2015 EMA’s and won the first ever Global ICON award presented.

The ASCAP Golden Note Award is one of the top acknowledgments that ASCAP bestows upon songwriters, composers and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones. Said ASCAP President Paul Williams, “We are delighted to present this extremely unique and innovative group with the ASCAP Golden Note Award.”

    On November 21, the 30th anniversary of the release of the band’s fourth album, NOTORIOUS, Simon, Nick, John, Roger & Nile Rodgers participate in an audio oral history on the recording of the album.

  • Participation in Lollapalooza

    Duran Duran confirm their participation in Lollapalooza South America with three shows in Chile, Argentina and Brazil. They also announce two dates in California in March.

  • Limited edition Paper Gods vinyl

    The Vinyl Factory announces a limited edition Paper Gods Vinyl box set that comes with four 12″ white vinyl records in bespoke sleeves, housed in a custom-made magnetised clamshell box set. China Chow helmed the art direction with Alex Israel, who did the Paper Gods album cover.

  • "No Rewind" charity single

    John & Roger participate in the charity single “No Rewind,” which debuts on RollingStone.com on November 22. The track, a collaboration with at-risk youth who are part of the Road Recovery program, record a dance-rock track, available as a donation-for-download.
