June 2008 - YOOX celebrates its 8th birthday this month with a mix of music, fashion and art to celebrate 8 years of achievement and focus attention on new and ambitious goals for the future. YOOX, known for their pioneering spirit of innovation and research, continues on this path with creative new initiatives for customers and fans, further evolving their one-of-a-kind online shopping experience.
Starting the first week of June, YOOX.COM will present a musical celebration starring eight artists, among them musicians and international DJs, joining together to create 8 musical tracks for this special occasion. The tracks will be exclusive to YOOX.COM and consist of three completely new songs and five remixes. ). From YOOX.COM’s actual birthday, June 20th, visitors to the site can listen to and download these songs, free of charge, for 72 hours (until June 22nd).
The highlight of this series is a Matt Helder’s (Arctic Monkeys) remix of Duran Duran’s “Skin Divers” (taken from the band’s critically acclaimed new album Red Carpet Massacre). This exciting new remix will be made available exclusively to YOOX customers in honor of the company’s 8th anniversary.
Speaking from their rehearsal studios in London, where they are preparing for their upcoming European run, bassist John Taylor said today “We are delighted to be working with YOOX as part of their 8th anniversary celebrations, as music and fashion have always been the two things closest to our hearts. We are also excited for people to hear this new Matt Helders’ remix of ‘Skin Divers’ – which is one of our favorite tracks on the new album. He’s really clever and has added something very special to the song.”
