Dance School students in Duran Duran video

PUPILS FROM Torrevieja’s Dance Academy & Stage School are to feature in a Duran Duran music video soon to be released.

Filming for the track ‘Before the Rain’, a song from the band’s new comeback album, took place in Torrevieja and Villamartin last weekend.

Michael Redfern, famed for his part in the old Oxo adverts alongside Lynda Bellingham, took the leading role in the music video with students from the dance school joining him.

The academy’s older students featured in the ‘ballroom scene’ and were dressed accordingly, whilst the younger girls were kitted out as military girls for their scene.
Although the filming involved many hours of waiting around between shoots, all students behaved “professionally and impeccably,” according to Academy Principal Suzanne, also the chief choreographer for the shoot: “I was very proud of all of the children and they are a real credit to the school,” she enthused. “In fact, it was a very rewarding, educational and informative experience for them and has inspired and motivated them all the more in their performing arts studies.”

At present, the video is in the process of being edited but will be available to view soon. All participants, including mums and dads who helped out with costumes and hair and make up, or those that took part as extras will be accredited on the video.

The Dance Academy & Stage School offers accredited examinations through the BTDA together with medal tests, catering for those that want to perform for fun or those that want a future career in performing arts.

The academy has once again been invited to London’s West End to perform in a variety show this year and is hoping to take a group later in the year.
